History was made on Saturday afternoon at Carroll Stadium when Indy Eleven knocked off FC Edmonton 1-0 to advance to the NASL Championship Final for the first time in club's three year tenure.

A familiar opponent, FC Edmonton traveled to Indianapolis on the back of a successful NASL campaign that saw them finish in 3rd place, and having gone 1-1-1 against Indiana's Team in the regular season, there was a lot to play for on both sides. Early chances fell for both sides with the hosts getting things started just two minutes in. Central figure Sinisa Ubiparipovic played in midfielder Don Smart, and the latter launched an effort that forced Eddies' 'keeper Matt VanOekel into a good save. Minutes later, Ubiparipovic drew a foul on the edge of the 18-yard box, leaving midfielder Dylan Mares to take the free kick. Though Indy's No.6 had plenty of experience with set piece chances in the regular season, he failed to hit the target. Both FC Edmonton and Indy would have a few more chances fall their ways in the first half, but neither could capitalize and halftime brought a deserved 0-0.

The "Boys in Blue" were on top of things from the minute the second half whistle blew, with opportunities for Mares and forward Justin Braun both sailing high and wide of VanOekel's goal. However, in the 63rd minute, Sinisa Ubiparipovic produced an effort that could not be stopped to separate the two. After tidy interplay at the top of the box, an inch of space allowed the former Fury FC midfielder just enough to plant his right foot on the ball and send it into the top corner on the far side. The goal forced FC Edmonton to attack even more, but both the Indy backline and 'keeper Jon Busch were prepared for the efforts.

Indy’s Busch was called on to make the save of the game with just under five minutes left in regulation as FC Edmonton pressed desperately for an equalizer. Nicklaw struck a cross from the right flank that Ameobi rose above the defense to head down in front of Busch. He kept his body in front of the ball and pushed the shot wide shot to preserve Indy’s lead – and his fourth straight shutout.

The victory in Indy Eleven’s playoff debut secured another first during the team’s historic 2016 season – a first appearance in The Championship Final in the squad’s third year of play.

 

The New York Cosmos also had the opportunity to host their semifinal after capturing both the Fall and Combined Season title, and welcomed Rayo OKC to Shuart Stadium for the Saturday night fight.

An exciting affair between two talented sides, it was OKC who came out fighting from the get-go and actually enjoyed the majority of the chances in the opening half. After seeing a few efforts wide of both goals, Rayo's Michel helped break the deadlock in the 37th minute when his set-piece delivery connected with the head of defender Futty Danso, who nodded home past Cosmos' 'netminder Jimmy Maurer to make it 1-0. Going into the break, New York battled back with heavy pressure but could not capitalize leaving a 1-0 deficit heading into the second half.

Just 45 minutes away from elimination, New York came out scraping for chances but OKC would stand firm. Midway through the second half, the Cosmos almost got their equalizer but an amazing save followed by a goalline clearance saw their efforts denied. However, in the 73rd minute, midfielder Juan Arango latched onto a ball from defender Ayoze and placed it just out of the reach of OKC 'keeper Daniel Fernandes to tie things at one-all. Just as it looked like extra time would be a necessity, Arango was involved again to put the visitors away. After scoring his goal, he stood over the ball on a set-piece chance, where his delivery would meet the feet of winger Yohandri Orozco in front of net. Just a few feet away from goal, Orozco would not miss and the Cosmos won the match at the death.

The win sent New York to the NASL Championship final, where they will look to make it three wins in four tries on Sunday night.

 

Final Bout

This is it. There's nowhere left to hide for either side, though both have been in the limelight plenty in 2016. Spring Season champs vs. Fall Season champs, the #1 seed vs. the #2 seed, one of the biggest rivalries in the NASL – it all comes down to this.

Indy landed the first punch in April when they battled back from 1-0 down to see an Eamon Zayed penalty equalize in the 90th minute, only for the forward to then double his tally in a dramatic 2-1 finish at "The Mike." New York would get their revenge, though, in a midweek tie at the end of August, thrashing Indiana's Team 3-0 with the Eleven down to ten men. After that match concluded, Indy head coach Tim Hankinson told his team that it was time to turn around and ascend back up their "mountain," with the summit representing The Championship final. Picking up an impressive set of results at home, Indy welcomed the Cosmos back at the end of September and sent them reeling back to the "Big Apple" with their own 3-0 defeat on goals by Dylan Mares, Justin Braun, and Eamon Zayed.

After both sides advanced to The Championship final in impressive fashion, they meet for one final time in 2016 with it all on the line.

 

Who to Watch, Indy Eleven edition: FW Eamon Zayed

"Big games require big game players." That's what Eamon Zayed had to say on Thursday when prompted with the question of how his team would rise to the occasion. Fearless in ambition, the Irishman's 15 league goals in 2016 saw him finish second in the race for the Golden Boot, but broke multiple Indy Eleven records. Becoming the club's all-time leading scorer, Zayed scored twice against New York in April and capped things off with one more in their September clash, and with just one "big game" left, he's keen to be on the scoresheet again.

That said, Zayed recognizes the task in front of him – he's facing a formidable defense in the form of the Cosmos – and cited New York 'keeper Jimmy Maurer as one of the best in the league. But his confidence is high, as is the team's confidence, and they have no other plans but to leave Belson Stadium with a trophy in hand.
 

Who to Watch, New York Cosmos edition: MF Juan Arango

One of the most dangerous attackers in the league, Arango was heavily involved in the Cosmos' success this season and in particular, in The Championship semifinal.

Finishing the year with 15 regular season goals and seven assists, the midfielder created an impressive 44 chances in 29 appearances, and scored two of New York's three goals in their August win. Though this is his first year in a Cosmos shirt, the Venezuelan international has plenty of big game experience having led his country to a fourth place finish in the 2011 Copa America and also leads his country all-time in both appearances and goals.

Indy knows that marking #18 will be essential if they are to come away with the victory.
 

Match-up to Mark: DF Colin Falvey vs. FW Jairo Arrieta

There's not much left to be said about captain Colin Falvey's leadership and presence in this Indy Eleven side this year. After making the switch from Ottawa to Indy, the defender is now looking back on his past experience in The Championship final to try and secure something he did not last year – a trophy. Advancing to the final with Fury FC, Falvey (and Indy midfielders Sinisa Ubiparipovic and Nicki Paterson) fell at the feet of the Cosmos, and now he's looking for a path back to the top. Bloodied and bandaged, the Irishman left last Saturday's semifinal against FC Edmonton to receive stitches and change his kit (twice), but stepped forward to finish out the match which earned him much praise from both his head coach and teammates. With Sunday's final the culmination of a satisfying run under his powerful defensive presence, he will again lead his team for the most important 90 minutes of the year.

Forward Jairo Arrieta will be in Falvey's way, however, and his seven goals and four assists in 26 appearances are not numbers to ignore. The Costa Rican is in his first season with the Cosmos after leaving D.C. United of the MLS, and has found much success around the Fall Season champions. Assisting on one of the goals in their August victory over Indy, Arrieta will now look to lead the line again in search of his first goal against the "Boys in Blue" at Belson Stadium. With one of the best conversion rates in the league among those who have scored at least seven goals (22.6%), Indy will have to be on their toes should a chance fall his way.

ELEVEN REWIND vs MIAMI FC: 

The “Boys in Blue” hosted Puerto Rico FC last Saturday for their final meeting with “La Naranja,” who had been on the road since the devastation of Hurricane Maria hit the mainland.

Capitalizing on a fast start, PRFC found themselves in front just five minutes in thanks to forward Sidney Rivera, who pounced on a loose ball in the box to beat Eleven ‘keeper Keith Cardona from point-blank range.

Puerto Rico FC was forced into an early change in the first half as Rivera picked up a knock and brought on forward Emery Welshman in his place. Welshman would make a quick impact, assisting on forward Hector Ramos’s goal in the 43rd minute to put the visitors up, 2-0.

After making a number of subs at the break and into the second half, Indy would find their goal in the 82nd minute as rookies Tanner Thompson and David Goldsmith combined with the Butler product finding the back of the net.

 

CLOSING THE SHOW:

“Indiana’s Team” wraps up the 2017 season this Sunday evening in a clash with North Carolina FC at Carroll Stadium.

Out of the 2017 Playoff race, Indy Eleven looks to finish strong and hold onto their place in the table with just the one game left to play. North Carolina FC, meanwhile, has not yet locked up their playoff seed despite qualifying with last week’s results.

Facing Zayed and the Indy Eleven attack, Sylvestre has 95 saves on the year (Busch – 103) and will be responsible for preventing Indy from taking all three points on Sunday night. With plenty to play for, including securing the third place position, Sylvestre will be key in limiting Indy's opportunities.

 

MATCH-UP TO MARK: MF GERARDO TORRADO vs MF NAZMI ALBADAWI

As midfielder Gerardo Torrado calls full-time on an incredible career, he'll first have to face NCFC midfielder Nazmi Albadawi.

Acting on opposite ends of the spectrum, where Albadawi creates, Torrado destroys, and he'll have to hold down the flair of Albadawi's game when the pair clash in midfield on Sunday.

ELEVEN REWIND vs MIAMI FC: 

“Indiana’s Team” fell 0 : 3 to Miami FC in a Saturday afternoon showdown with all three goals going to way of the visitors in the first half. 

Forward Stefano Pinho gave the league leaders an early advantage in the 4th minute before doubling his tally exactly 30 minutes later to put his side two-up. Then, Dylan Mares beat Jon Busch from close range for a third inside the half. 

A few chances would fall Indy’s way in the second half but Miami FC would prove to be too strong to beat and collect all three points, placing Indy out of playoff contention.

 

HOSTING PUERTO RICO FC FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THREE WEEKS:

Truly into the home stretch, Indy Eleven hosts Puerto Rico FC at Carroll Stadium in a match relocated to Indianapolis due to damage on the island following Hurricane Maria. 

Both teams have been knocked out of the race for the 2017 Playoffs but with two games left in the year, Indy is looking to finish the year strong against an opponent they have typically had good success against. 

Playing hosts to PRFC just a few weeks ago, Indy Eleven knocked off “La Naranja,” 2-1, at “The Mike” thanks to two goals from forward Eamon Zayed. The team looks to replicate their success this Saturday against the only NASL club to have never beaten the “Boys in Blue.”

 

INDY ELEVEN PLAYER TO WATCH: MF DON SMART

Midfielder Don Smart will be the first Indy Eleven player in history to register 100 appearances across all competitions for the club when he lines up on Saturday against PRFC. One of two "Indy originals" alongside Brad Ring, Smart has featured in 95 league matches and 4 USOC fixtures leading up to the afternoon clash and will be honored at season's end for his feat.

Missing the Miami match due to injury, Smart's return to the line-up will be welcomed one as Indy looks to balance attack and defense from a wide position. ELEVEN REWIND vs PUERTO RICO FC: 

Indy Eleven fell 2-1 to the San Francisco Deltas when the sides met on Wednesday night for a midweek match at Kezar Stadium

A wondergoal from Indy midfielder Craig Henderson in the 7th minute saw his side start off on the right foot. However, an equalizer for San Francisco came in the 12th minute via a Colin Falvey own goal after a tussle with defender Kenny Teijsse. 

Dueling well into the second half, it appeared neither side would break the deadlock and so they would settle for a point. However, San Francisco attacker Dagoberto produced an impressive, curling effort in the 80th minute that pinged off the far post and bounced into the back of the net to give his side a lead they would not relinquish.

After a long night, Indy Eleven fell to the Deltas and saw their playoff hopes take a big hit.

 

WIN OUT:

Three home games separate Indy Eleven and the offseason… unless they work for every result and get a little fortune on their side.

“Indiana’s Team” sits sixth in the combined table with 32 points from 29 games played, while both of New York and Jacksonville sit on 37 points from 28 games played. At this stage, Indy will need to win out and see points dropped from both sides above them in order to reach the coveted fourth place spot in the standings.

 

Indy Eleven Player to Watch: FW Eamon Zayed

Forward Eamon Zayed has been in good form as of late having scored two goals in his last two games at Carroll Stadium in a 2-1 win over Puerto Rico FC and a 2-2 draw with the New York Cosmos.

Coming on as a substitute against the Deltas midweek, Zayed featured for just 29 minutes but did not see a chance come his way with just eight touches. The Irishman is looking to propel his team's final push for the 2017 Playoffs as the only player in the NASL to have reached the 10+ goal mark in two consecutive seasons. 

 

Miami FC Player to Watch: MF Poku

Miami FC midfielder Poku has performed well against Indy Eleven in three meetings already this season. With one goal and one assist against Indy in 2017, the 6'1 Ghanaian playmaker has helped orchestrate many a move from his position in the center of the park and remains one of the visitors' biggest threats.

In his last time against the "Boys in Blue," Poku did not manage a goal or an assist but completed over 85% of his passes (34 attempts) and made one key pass in the build-up to a goal. The Indy Eleven midfield will need to help hold down the attacking threat throughout the entirety of the Saturday afternoon match.

 

Match-up to Mark: MF Gerardo Torrado vs MF Dylan Mares

Indy midfielder Gerardo Torrado heads into the final three matches of his career while Miami FC midfielder Dylan Mares returns to the building he once called home for just the second time since making the switch to the South Beach Side in the offseason. 

Mares, who did not score in his first trip back to Carroll Stadium, last contributed on the scoresheet when his side knocked off Indy Eleven, 3-1, during Indy goalkeeper Jon Busch's 500th appearance of his career across all competitions. ELEVEN REWIND vs NEW YORK COSMOS: 

Indy Eleven dueled to a 2-2 draw with the New York Cosmos on Saturday night in the final regular season meeting between the two sides. 

Welcoming the Cosmos off the back of a 2-1 win over Puerto Rico FC, Indy was first off the mark via a Don Smart goal in the 27th minute. However, New York was quick to equalize as Emmanuel Ledesma put one on the board in the 36th minute. 

In similar fashion to the first half, Indy regained the lead, this time from Eamon Zayed off a Marco Franco cross, in the 64th minute, only to quickly concede an equalizer, this one to Javi Marquez off an Emmanuel Ledesma pass. 

Indy would create enough to find a third but could not convert in the end, instead maintaining their home unbeaten run vs NYC.

 

PLAYOFF PURSUIT IN CHECK:

Just four games remain in the 2017 regular season and Indy Eleven currently finds itself in 6th place in the Combined Season standings, five points off both Jacksonville Armada FC and the New York Cosmos. 

Traveling to face the second-placed San Francisco Deltas for the final time this year, “Indiana’s Team” knows how vital the encounter is with three points a must.

A crucial step to securing that place would be a win against the Deltas, and almost as important, a clean sheet. San Francisco has scored in their last eight matches, though, and are coming off a 3-0 thrashing of Miami FC on the road. Not short on confidence, Indy Eleven will need Busch to be in peak form in order to keep the Deltas off the scoresheet.

Attacker Pablo Dyego has caused Indy Eleven problems in 2017, most recently in their September 2 meeting at Carroll Stadium in which the Brazilian's brace secured three points for the visitors.

Dyego's agility and footwork make him a tough marker, but he'll be facing an Indy Eleven backline that has been gelled well together in their last two matches and picked up four points in that span. However, limiting Dyego's involvement in the match will only help the "Boys in Blue" over the course of the match.

 

MATCH-UP TO MARK: DF COLIN FALVEY vs FW DEVON SANDOVAL

Indy Eleven captain Colin Falvey is fresh off a Team of the Month nod for September, leading all defenders in blocks (10) and placing second amongst all defenders in duels won (27) and interceptions (11).

A challenge for the Irishman on Wednesday night will come in the form of forward Devon Sandoval, who has scored four goals in 24 appearances for the Deltas this year. At six-foot-one, 190 lbs, Sandoval is a physical proposition to face in the air, and having scored two goals in his last fives matches (244 minutes), the forward can provide a spark where needed.

The festivities begin at 1:30 P.M. with authentic performances by the Ballet Folklorico Mosaicos and the Peruvian Association as part of a packed pre-game in the Honda Fun Zone featuring Radio Latina, Exitos, & La Pantera. In addition, a special recognition for retiring Indy Eleven midfielder Gerardo Torrado will take place at midfield prior to kickoff.

INDIANAPOLIS (October 9, 2017) – Indy Eleven is pleased to release full details for the club’s Third Annual “Hispanic Heritage Night” as “Indiana’s Team” battles Miami FC at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 14, presented by Indiana Donor Network & Financial Center.
 
The festivities begin at 1:30 P.M. with authentic performances by the Ballet Folklorico Mosaicos and the Peruvian Association as part of a packed pre-game in the Honda Fun Zone featuring Radio Latina, Exitos, & La Pantera. In addition, a special recognition for retiring Indy Eleven midfielder Gerardo Torrado will take place at midfield prior to kickoff.

ELEVEN REWIND vs PUERTO RICO FC: 

Indy Eleven defeated Puerto Rico FC, 2-1, at Carroll Stadium as the team’s push for a position in the 2017 playoffs continues. 

Forward Eamon Zayed was the star on the night, scoring two goals – one in the 37th minute following a blocked shot by Ben Speas that fell into his path, and the second in the 62nd minute with a deft header following a floated cross from Marco Franco. 

Puerto Rico FC would pull one back in stoppage time as a handball was whistled on Indy Eleven in the penalty area. Though correctly guessing where PRFC forward Giuseppe Gentile would place his spot kick, Indy goalkeeper Jon Busch could not keep it out. 

However, the “Boys in Blue” secure an important three points and turn their attention to the New York Cosmos.

 

THE RIVALRY CONTINUES:

Indy Eleven hosts the New York Cosmos once again with plenty of ammunition fueling this storied contest. 

In 2017 alone, the pair of scored a combined 11 goals in three meetings with Indy claiming two wins at home and a draw in New York. They clash for the final time this season with the Cosmos currently holding the coveted fourth place in the Combined table. Should Indy take all three points, they would close the gap on New York to just two points with four matches remaining. Right now, “Indiana’s Team” trails Jacksonville (5th – 34 pts) by three points with all three clubs having played 27 games. 

 

INDY ELEVEN PLAYER TO WATCH: FW EAMON ZAYED

After netting twice in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Puerto Rico FC, forward Eamon Zayed is again expected to be the focal point of Indy Eleven's success as the club seeks to build on two straight wins at "The Mike."

Zayed's brace brought his tally on the year to nine in 23 appearances, just a few shy of his 15 league goals in 31 appearances in 2016. Zayed has found the majority of his success as of late in the air, with headed goals against PRFC, NCFC, and Miami FC in the Fall Season alone. Having already scored against NYC, Zayed is just one NASL club shy of scoring against every team in the league – goal against San Francisco being his final target in that regard. 

 

NEW YORK COSMOS PLAYER TO WATCH: GK JIMMY MAURER

Though he has conceded six goals to "Indiana's Team" in his last three matches, Cosmos goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer has been a difficult opponent in 11 matches against Indy Eleven since 2014.

Also making 11 saves in his last three appearances against Indy, Maurer boats a GAA of 1.40 and has one of the better saves per 90 min. of any goalkeeper with 20 or more appearances this year. In addition, the University of South Carolina graduate has made ten saves in his last three matches overall as the Cosmos have gone 1-1-1.

 

MATCH-UP TO MARK: MF GERARDO TORRADO VS MF JUAN GUERRA

An interesting tussle last time these two sides met, one battle to watch is Indy midfielder general Gerardo Torrado against New York's skilled attacker Juan Guerra.

Facing off in the 3-3 draw at MCU Park in mid-August, Torrado found his way on the scoresheet twice while Guerra subbed in and also found a goal for his side, a late-minute equalizer to steal a point at the death. Guerra has also netted more recently than Torrado with two goals in his last four matches, but it's the former Mexico national team star that has put in more of a shift in his last five matches with a full 90-minute performance in three of his last four contests.

THE TIME IS NOW

As the Fall Season winds down and the push for The Playoffs comes to its pinnacle, Indy's "fight for three" points is more vital now than ever. Facing a team in direct competition for the final playoff spot, Indy Eleven travels to WakeMed Soccer Park to face North Carolina FC in one of four Sunday showdowns around the league. The "Boys in Blue" are fresh off earning their sixth clean sheet of the season in a 0-0 draw with Jacksonville Armada FC, while NCFC comes in hot off the back of a 2-0 win on the road against the New York Cosmos last Saturday.

In the last meeting between the two sides just two weeks back, Indy managed a 1-0 win at Carroll Stadium thanks to a late winner from forward Eamon Zayed with the visiting side down to ten men. In this encounter, Indy will need to find similar dominance in the midfield to continue to create chances for the attacking line while keeping an eye on NCFC forwards Renan Gorne and Matt Fondy, should their numbers be called on the day.

 

ELEVEN REWIND at JACKSONVILLE ARMADA FC:

"Indiana's Team" faced Armada FC in a midweek matchup that was rescheduled from Saturday, September 9 due to circumstances amid the arrival of Hurricane Irma. 

The two sides traded chances in the first half with the best opportunities falling inside the opening 15 minutes for both. In the 9th minute, Jacksonville sniffed their first chance at goal when forward Tony Taylor drove forward on a breakaway. Taylor worked his way into the box and forced Falvey the wrong way on an attempted challenge, only to see his effort on goal blocked by Cory Miller.

Minutes later, Indy midfielder Don Smart led the charge to create a look on goal for his side. Surging down the flank, the Jamaican, nearing his 100th appearance for the club, whipped in a low cross that the Armada FC backline repelled with Zayed waiting in a central position to tap the ball home.

In the second half, Jacksonville midfielder J.C. Banks began to work his way into the match and created a pair of decent chances for his side, though they could not convert. For Indy, the best chance in the second 45 minutes fell his way with just under 15 minutes to play. Substitute forward David Goldsmith slid a clever ball to Smart just wide to the right, but instead of squaring the ball, the midfielder opted to go for goal at the near post and forced a solid save from Armada FC's Caleb Patterson-Sewell.

In the end, "Buschy" was tested just once as Indy won over 80% of their tackles in shutting out Jacksonville Armada FC, 0-0.

 

WHO TO WATCH INDY ELEVEN EDITION: DF COLIN FALVEY

Club captain Colin Falvey will be once again leading the defense against North Carolina FC on Sunday afternoon.

In his last time out, Falvey helped his side prevent Jacksonville from getting on the scoresheet, winning 100% of his tackles and nearly 70% of his duels while making four clearances and registering three interceptions. In addition, Falvey completed nearly 83% of his passes – 37% of which went forward – to help incite attack from the defense.

Against physical forwards like Gorne and Fondy, Falvey is an ideal pick. Neither forward carries the pace to get around Falvey, meaning it will be a physical fight for the defender who has featured in eight of nine Fall Season games, playing in every minute outside his 65 minutes against Miami FC in early August.

 

WHO TO WATCH NORTH CAROLINA FC EDITION: MF NAZMI ALBADAWI

Highlighting the other man donning the armband, NCFC midfielder Nazmi Albadawi is the one to watch for the hosts this weekend.

The American has produced once again on the statsheet, netting three goals with three assists in 27 appearances this year. Last year, Albadawi put up three goals and ten assists in 29 games, putting him just off the pace in the assists column. But, with two goals and one assist in the Fall Season so far, Albadawi will look to up his production in the final stretch.

The midfielder has an eye for a pass and the numbers to back it up, creating 48 chances while completing nearly 83% of his passes in the process. Indy will have to mark the creator in the NCFC tightly.

 

MATCH-UP TO MARK: MF DON SMART vs DF PAUL BLACK

As he approaches game No.100, "Mr. Indy" Don Smart will have another chance to show why he helps make things happen in the final third when he lines up across defender Paul Black.

Smart has played the full 90 minutes in his last two matches and has registered one assist in the Fall Season so far. Smart's pace and skill on the ball make him a threat against any defense, though he'll be facing one of the more consistent left backs in the league. Outside of his 42-minute stint against the New York Cosmos last week, Black has played the full 90 in every match he's appeared in dating back to his side's 2-1 loss to Indy on June 24.

RECOVERY TIME:

September has already been a wild month for "Indiana's Team," with two matches postponed in an already packed five-game month.

With their Sept. 9 game postponed to this midweek clash, Indy Eleven picked up mixed results with a 1-0 win over NCFC on Sept. 13 and a 2-0 loss to FC Edmonton on Sept. 17.

However, with another ten full days of recovery time due to Indy's match against PRFC, originally scheduled for Sept. 23, being rescheduled to Wed. Oct. 4 due to the arrival of Hurricane Maria, the "Boys in Blue" can go all out in Jacksonville against an opponent in direct competition for a playoff position. 

 

ELEVEN REWIND at FC EDMONTON:

Indy Eleven dropped an important road contest at the home of FC Edmonton on Sunday, Sept. 17, falling 2-0 to the Eddies after goals from Sainey Nyassi and Dustin Corea sealed the win for the hosts.

As the two sides pushed forward looking to break the deadlock the hosts would get on the board first just after the hour mark through the midfielder Nyassi. Blitzing down the right side, Nyassi snuck in behind the defense and pushed an effort to the far post past 'keeper Jon Busch for the game's first goal.

"Indiana's Team" would not take one lying down, though their pursuit of an equalizer might have caught them out in the end when they conceded a penalty in the 77th minute. Attacker Dustin Corea stepped up to the spot and would send "Buschy" the wrong way, doubling his team's lead and helping to secure the three points at the fulltime whistle. 

 

WHO TO WATCH INDY ELEVEN EDITION: MF BEN SPEAS

One of the creative sparks for Indy's midfield this season, Ben Speas will be the one to watch out wide as his side looks to exploit an Armada FC side that has conceded 15 goals in the Fall Season, the third-most of any team in the league thus far.

Though the "Boys in Blue" have put up just one goal in their last three matches, Speas has been an integral part of the move going forward often deployed on the opposite side of attacker Paulo Junior looking to feed the forward Eamon Zayed. With tricks in his bag, pace to burn, and the ability to pick out his teammates from just about anywhere on the park, the former Columbus Crew man will look to incite a fury as his team grinds for a vital three points.

 

WHO TO WATCH JACKSONVILLE ARMADA FC EDITION: MF JACK BLAKE

Jack Blake has tortured Indy Eleven in recent encounters and leading his side in goal production in 2017, he will look to continue his attacking success against "Indiana's Team" on Wednesday night.

The clubs have played just once in the Fall Season – a 3-2 win for Armada FC came at Carroll Stadium in late August – with Blake netting a hat-trick in just over an hour to help his side earn the victory. Blake has scored eight times in 2017 as a whole, placing him T-4 in the league in that category, and will be the biggest threat again in a midfield trio that also features the dangerous Zach Steinberger and J.C. Banks.

 

MATCH-UP TO MARK: DF COLIN FALVEY vs FW CIARAN KILDUFF

Two Irishman go head-to-head on Wednesday when Indy's captain and starting centerback Colin Falvey looks to limit chances for fellow countryman but club foe, forward Ciaran Kilduff.

Falvey has been a mainstay at the back since being handed the armband upon his arrival in January 2016, and his 21 appearances (21 starts) have him sitting T-4 on "Indiana's Team" with nearly 1850 minutes played this season.

RECOVERY TIME:

September has already been a wild month for “Indiana’s Team,” with two matches postponed in an already packed five-game month.

With their Sept. 9 game postponed to this midweek clash, Indy Eleven picked up mixed results with a 1-0 win over NCFC on Sept. 13 and a 2-0 loss to FC Edmonton on Sept. 17.

However, with another ten full days of recovery time due to Indy’s match against PRFC, originally scheduled for Sept. 23, being rescheduled to Wed. Oct. 4 due to the arrival of Hurricane Maria, the “Boys in Blue” can go all out in Jacksonville against an opponent in direct competition for a playoff position. 

 

ELEVEN REWIND at FC EDMONTON:

Indy Eleven dropped an important road contest at the home of FC Edmonton on Sunday, Sept. 17, falling 2-0 to the Eddies after goals from Sainey Nyassi and Dustin Corea sealed the win for the hosts.

As the two sides pushed forward looking to break the deadlock the hosts would get on the board first just after the hour mark through the midfielder Nyassi. Blitzing down the right side, Nyassi snuck in behind the defense and pushed an effort to the far post past ‘keeper Jon Busch for the game’s first goal.

“Indiana’s Team” would not take one lying down, though their pursuit of an equalizer might have caught them out in the end when they conceded a penalty in the 77th minute. Attacker Dustin Corea stepped up to the spot and would send “Buschy” the wrong way, doubling his team’s lead and helping to secure the three points at the fulltime whistle. 

 

WHO TO WATCH INDY ELEVEN EDITION: MF BEN SPEAS

One of the creative sparks for Indy’s midfield this season, Ben Speas will be the one to watch out wide as his side looks to exploit an Armada FC side that has conceded 15 goals in the Fall Season, the third-most of any team in the league thus far.

Though the “Boys in Blue” have put up just one goal in their last three matches, Speas has been an integral part of the move going forward often deployed on the opposite side of attacker Paulo Junior looking to feed the forward Eamon Zayed. With tricks in his bag, pace to burn, and the ability to pick out his teammates from just about anywhere on the park, the former Columbus Crew man will look to incite a fury as his team grinds for a vital three points.

 

WHO TO WATCH JACKSONVILLE ARMADA FC EDITION: MF JACK BLAKE

Jack Blake has tortured Indy Eleven in recent encounters and leading his side in goal production in 2017, he will look to continue his attacking success against “Indiana’s Team” on Wednesday night.

The clubs have played just once in the Fall Season – a 3-2 win for Armada FC came at Carroll Stadium in late August – with Blake netting a hat-trick in just over an hour to help his side earn the victory. Blake has scored eight times in 2017 as a whole, placing him T-4 in the league in that category, and will be the biggest threat again in a midfield trio that also features the dangerous Zach Steinberger and J.C. Banks.

 

MATCH-UP TO MARK: DF COLIN FALVEY vs FW CIARAN KILDUFF

Two Irishman go head-to-head on Wednesday when Indy’s captain and starting centerback Colin Falvey looks to limit chances for fellow countryman but club foe, forward Ciaran Kilduff.

Falvey has been a mainstay at the back since being handed the armband upon his arrival in January 2016, and his 21 appearances (21 starts) have him sitting T-4 on “Indiana’s Team” with nearly 1850 minutes played this season.
