INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Eleven tandem of midfielder Neveal Hackshaw and defender Noah Powder have been called up to the Trinidad & Tobago Men’s National Team ahead of its first international exhibition of the year against Bolivia. The friendly is set to take place this Friday, January 21, at 4:00 p.m. ET in the Bolivian capital of Sucre.
The contest will be the first for the Soca Warriors since the conclusion of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup, which both Hackshaw and Powder featured in for T&T throughout the tournament’s group stage.
Hackshaw, who was named to the Soca Warriors’ roster by Head Coach Angus Eve, made his most recent international appearances in said Gold Cup Group Stage, coming on as a 64th minute substitute against Mexico (0-0 D) and placing in the starting lineup against El Salvador (0-2 L) on July 10 and 14, respectively. The 26-year-old also made two full 90-minute FIFA World Cup Qualifier appearances a month prior against The Bahamas (0-0 D) and Saint Kitts and Nevis (2-0 W), but the undefeated run ultimately marked the end of Trinidad & Tobago’s 2022 World Cup campaign.
Since making his debut at the senior level in 2015, Hackshaw has compiled 19 “caps” for Trinidad & Tobago, including appearances in six World Cup Qualifiers, the 2019 & 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cups and the Copa America Centenario play-in tournament in 2016.
The native of La Horquetta, Trinidad, finished the 2021 season as one of Indy’s top distributors with 949 passes across his 19 regular season appearances (17 starts) and was a key contributor in several defensive categories and tied midfielder Jared Timmer for most interceptions on the team (36). Since arriving to the Circle City in 2019, Hackshaw’s consistency earned him a spot on the 2020 USL Championship All-League Second Team, which came on the heels of his All-League First Team placement and Defender of the Year nomination following a standout first season with the Boys in Blue.
Eligible to represent Trinidad & Tobago through his father born in Tobago, Powder represented the Soca Warriors 13 times in competitions at the U-17 and U-20 levels towards the start of his pro career before earning his first six “caps” with the senior team in 2021. After making his full international debut last January 31 in a friendly against the United States, Powder appeared twice off the bench in CONCACAF region qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup last spring before starting two of his three appearances in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup in July.
Prior to his offseason move to Indianapolis, Powder collected 11 goals and nine assists in 103 combined regular season (96) and postseason (7) affairs over the last six seasons of USL Championship play. After coming up through the New York Red Bulls Academy system, the Edison, N.J. native made his professional debut at the age of 17 during a two-season stint at NY Red Bulls II from 2016-17, helping the squad to the top record in the Championship’s regular season in 2016 and a trophy-lifting finish to the playoffs that followed. After joining Orange County SC for their 2018 campaign, Powder got another taste of postseason glory in 2019, starting his three-year tenure at Monarchs SLC by figuring prominently in their title run, including scoring the final tally in a 3-1 victory over Louisville City FC in the Final.
