Indy Eleven Professional Soccer announces the signings of Ayoze Garcia Perez and Eugene Starikov to its 2018 roster pending league registration. Both Ayoze and Starikov join the “Boys in Blue” after finishing as NASL Championship runner-ups with the New York Cosmos in 2017.
“I’m pleased to let Indy Eleven fans know that we’ve added high quality players in Ayoze and Starikov,” Indy Eleven Head Coach Martin Rennie said. “Their winning track record and great composure in championship matches adds great depth to our team.”
“I’m excited to be joining Indy Eleven,” said former Cosmos defender Ayoze. “Coach Rennie is putting a great team together and I’m ready to start practicing with my new teammates and coaching staff.”
Puerto de la Cruz-native Ayoze was a staple in the Cosmos’ defensive lineup over the last five seasons. During his tenure, Ayoze appeared in 119 regular season matches and logged over 10,000 minutes of play time. Additionally, Ayoze scored a total of eight goals and had 14 assists during his Cosmos career. He was a NASL Golden Ball nominee and featured in the NASL Best XI.
Ukrainian forward Starikov returned to the states last season with the Cosmos after a playing overseas in both the Russian and Ukrainian Premier Leagues. In 2017, Starikov appeared in 25 of the Cosmos’ 32 games, tallying a total of four goals and one assist in all regular season appearances.
Per club policy, terms of player contracts with Indy Eleven will not be released.
