Indy Eleven are set for the third and final match of a three-match homestand Saturday night at Carroll Stadium against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. The two sides last met exactly a month prior to Saturday’s contest, a 1-0 win for the Riverhounds on a rainy night in the Steel City.
The Boys in Blue scored first last week against Eastern Conference contenders Tampa Bay Rowdies, but could not hold the lead in the end, in part due to two penalty kicks converted by the Rowdies. The defeat extended Indy’s winless streak to nine matches after snapping a losing streak with a 1-1 draw against Memphis 901 FC a week prior.
On the flipside, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC have been one of the hottest teams in USL Championship over the past month. The Riverhounds went undefeated in the month of July with a 5W-0L-1D record, the only non-victory coming in a 1-1 draw at New Mexico United.
The Eleven and Riverhounds have been fairly even since joining USL Championship in 2018, with Indy trailing the all-time series 3W-5L-2D, including a Pittsburgh win in the US Open Cup outside of USLC play. The last meeting came in a downpour on the banks of the Monongahela River last month, a 1-0 win for the Riverhounds decided by a 79th minute goal by Albert Dikwa.
Saturday’s match will also be newly-signed Indy Eleven defender Robby Dambrot’s first match with the Boys in Blue, fittingly against his former club. Dambrot signed with the Riverhounds this past January and scored once in his five appearances and while making three starts for Pittsburgh during the 2022 season.
The Boys in Blue will be without Raul Aguilera during the match due to yellow card accumulation following a caution during the 34th minute of last week’s match against Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Indy Eleven started strong, but eventually fell 3-1 to a streaking Tampa Bay Rowdies side in front of a season-high announced crowd of 10,074 at IUPUI Carroll Stadium. Raul Aguilera’s third goal of the season midway through the first half put the Boys in Blue on top, but a pair of penalty kick conversions for the visitors bookended a late first-half finish to extend Tampa Bay’s undefeated streak to 12 games..

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC capped off an undefeated month of July with a 1-0 win over FC Tulsa at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh. Albert Dikwa notched the go-ahead goal in the 55th minute for the Riverhounds.

#PITvIND Series History: The Indy-Pittsburgh series has been one of the tightest in the USL Championship since the Eleven joined the league in 2018, with Pittsburgh holding a slight advantage all-time. Pittsburgh also found victory in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, a 1-0 win at home in 2019.
If previous history is any indication this weekend’s game will be a tight one, as nine of the ten all-time meetings have been either draws or games decided by one goal. In addition, five of the matches have seen the result shift late with either an equalizer (1) or game-winner (4) scored past the 80th minute.
Indy notched a pair of dramatic 1-0 wins in the 2020 series, with Tyler Pasher doing the damage in spectacular fashion both at Highmark Stadium on July 22 (97+’) and Lucas Oil Stadium (13’) on August 15.
The Eastern Conference foes met just once in the 2021 season, a 1-0 win for the Riverhounds at Carroll Stadium in the final game for the Boys in Blue under then-head coach Martin Rennie, who mutually parted ways with the club the following day.
