FRESH FEELING
August was a difficult month for Indy Eleven, with the club taking just one point (D 3-3 at NYC) in four matches.
However, September presents a new challenge with a congested five-match month sending Indy away from home two times. First up is a home contest against the San Francisco Deltas, who took a point away from Carroll Stadium in the first meeting at "The Mike," a 0-0 draw in April.
The Deltas come in after suffering their only loss of the Fall Season so far, a 2-1 home defeat at the hands (or feet) of FC Edmonton.
WHO TO WATCH INDY ELEVEN EDITION: MF BRAD RING
Continuing to help Indy Eleven forge forward, midfielder Brad Ring the only outfield player to have tallied 20 starts (20 GP) through the Spring and Fall Seasons so far and sits second in overall minutes played (1736) behind goalkeeper Jon Busch (1800).
Ring will be charged with being the stopgap in front of Deltas forwards Tommy Heinemann and Dagoberto as the Deltas look to continue their Fall form despite their most recent loss. Dropping three of their last four matches, Indy is looking for their first win since the July 30 away trip to FC Edmonton and how effective Ring is in distributing the ball as well as preventing attacks will be vital.
WHO TO WATCH SAN FRANCISCO DELTAS EDITION: FW DAGOBERTO
New addition Dagoberto has already scored one and assisted one for the Deltas in just five games played in the Fall Season and will be one of a few threats the West Coast side presents this weekend.
Playing the full 90 minutes for the first time this year, the Brazilian scored his team's lone goal in their 2-1 home loss to FC Edmonton and has shown flashes of creativity in his play. Linking the forward Heinemann with the midfield, Dagoberto has already created 13 chances in just under 350 minutes played. The forward is a product of the Brazilian National Team youth system and won five domestic titles in the Brazilian league so far.
MATCH-UP TO MARK: DF NEMANJA VUKOVIC vs JACKSON
Missing last week through injury, defender Nemanja Vukovic will likely return to the lineup this weekend leaving the challenge of marking Deltas winger Jackson at the forefront.
"Vuko," who attacks as well as he defends, has a knack for marauding into the attacking third in helping create chances for his side. As he faces the pacy winger Jackson, Vukovic's task will be continuing to help his side create in attack while returning to contain the Brazilian.
Jackson has helped his side most moving forward, scoring one and assisting on two in the 2017 season so far, and has registered both his assists in the Fall Season.
